Neukölln Syndrome: Lexicon

Script for two performances.
HB55 & STINKY TRUTH, Berlin, 11/12 September 2025

Conceived as a dual performance script, Neukölln Syndrome: Lexicon unfolds across text, sound, and voice to map the psychic and atmospheric Zone of Berlin’s Neukölln. The work is divided into three movements — A Kind of Desert, The Sun, and The Silence — intertwining diaristic fragments, field notes, and sonic thresholds.

Performed first at HB55 (Disclosure One, with Kat Polar and Odra Ode) and then at STINKY TRUTH (Disclosure Two, with Estera Shein), the piece inscribes a set of ruinological concepts — extimate field, in-distinct, predatory formation, solid/liquid/gaseous ruins — each enacted through shifts in tone, sound response, and read embodiment.

Across both evenings, Lexicon announced a ruinous subjectivity emerging from urban debris and para-institutional encounters. It was written and imaged by Pawel Jankiewicz under the Distinct Inside imprint, in collaboration with Michael Hazell and the KA32 collective.

Here Is Wine:
a Folded Panel

Printed and folded panel, conceived in relation to Francesco Petruccelli’s Untitled (2018),
extending the bas-relief into a linguistic register.

The text operates as a silent relief:
restrained, luminous, radiating sense rather than fixing it.
An act of reading turned into form
– language held within the same stillness as stone.

Written by Pawel Jankiewicz.
Presented at Miss Read, HKW,  13 to 15 June 2025.
